We are looking for an experienced People Operations amp; Payroll Manager to lead our UK team
If youre successful in your application youll be joining an enthused and high performing team one which prides itself on providing stellar service at every stage of the employee life cycle from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between
Responsibilities
Reporting into our Head of People Operations amp; Systems youll work on all things Payroll and HR with responsibility for supporting employees across the business and helping to make Trainline a great place to work Youll provide high quality support in relation to both core HR and payroll processes and adhoc projects and quickly become an integral part of the team and wider business
You will be responsible for:
The management of our outsourced UK payroll including:Overseeing the administration and processing of the monthly payrollCompletion of Payroll reconciliations amp; signoffEnsuring compliance in accordance with local regulations amp; audit controls amp; proceduresManaging the relationship with our external payroll vendorIdentifying and implementing improvements to Payroll processesLeading amp; developing the UK People Operations team ensuring efficient and effective People services for Trainliners within our internal SLA timeframeProviding Trainliners with accurate and consistent support with regards to our policies practices and processesFocusing on transforming building and maintaining effective HR and Payroll processes and policies with a tech first mentality and in compliance with local legislationEnsuring the integrity of People amp; Organisational data held within our HRIS HiBobWork and lead on Ad hoc People Operations projects as required improvements to enhance the employee experience and People Team processesWorking with People BPs to manage our lifecycle processesChampion data metrics and insights and use HR data to enable the wider team to make valueadd decisionsQualificationsWere looking for a team player with a roll your sleeves up attitude A selfstarter with a helpful peopleorientated demeanour and a high degree of integrity and confidentiality Someone with a passion for maturing People Operations Superstrong organisation and interpersonal skills are essential and youll also bring the ability to work at pace and with agility
Some with strong experience in Payroll management is crucial We are looking for someone to own the relationship with our new outsourced payroll provider in the UK who can bring in best practice processes and ensure a stable monthly payroll
A HR qualification isnt necessary as long as you can demonstrate your interest in HR and show a comprehensive understanding of HR processes and policies well provide you with the necessary professional development to make you an HR superhero

This is a role based in the UK but as we also support offices in France Spain and Italy so experience of working with employees in these countries would be helpful but not essential
Required Skills:
Proven Payroll experience with a knowledge of payroll regulations standards tax legislation and compliance requirements in the UKExperience in payroll in EU markets Italy France Spain Germany Belgium would be desirableProven experience working within HR operations with a strong knowledge of HR best practicesEffective leadership skills and previous management experience in a fastpaced environmentExcellent judgment and problemsolving skills with a pragmatic approach to providing solutionsExperience leading HR projects and initiativesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and data literacyStrong organisational and time management skillsProficiency in MS Office suite; specifically excel-
