Main duties of the job
As a Physiotherapy Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Allied Health, your responsibilities will include leading in teaching and module co-ordinating for a contemporary Physiotherapy curriculum. You will enhance the student experience across our provision; providing students with a high-quality, research informed educational experience leading to an understanding of healthcare practice and the achievement of both academic and professional qualifications. This will involve teaching and learning activity, student recruitment, clinical placement support, assessment and research. There are opportunities to embrace interprofessional research and scholarly activity in the school and support collaborations with clinical colleagues to develop and prepare appropriate clinical placements including educational audit and clinical liaison. As a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Allied Health, there is the opportunity to develop your research and partner engagement alongside teaching commitments in your working year.

Job responsibilities
Function of the Post:
You will contribute to the delivery of Physiotherapy education, with a focus on Cardio/Pulmonary care, enhancing the student experience on both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Physiotherapy programmes. You will provide students with a high-quality, research informed educational experience leading to an understanding of healthcare practice and the achievement of both academic and professional qualifications. You will also contribute to developments in response to the professional and interprofessional agendas, and support collaborations with clinical colleagues in supporting learners in practice. The role may also involve a contribution to the wider Institute of Applied Sciences, including research activities, income generation activities, student recruitment and, where appropriate, support other departments within the University.
Senior Lecturers will contribute to an upcoming curriculum review enabling you to shape our vision for our future provision, alongside engaging in our key activities: teaching, administration, research and income generation. You will teach as a member of the teaching team within our BSc Physiotherapy and MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) programmes. You will be expected to fully and actively engage in the range of activities that ensure high learning and teaching quality within the modules delivered and work flexibly and efficiently in discharging your responsibilities. The role will require a flexible approach and the ability to engage with multiple professions across the wider university and partners.
Principal Accountabilities:
As a Physiotherapy Senior Lecturer (Cardio/Pulmonary) in the School of Nursing and Allied Health, the working year will be divided between leading, teaching, teaching-related administration, assessment and research in such proportions as may be decided by the Head of Area of School with appropriate consultation, in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Academic staff.
You will take responsibility for the delivery of physiotherapy education enhancing the student experience on physiotherapy programmes; providing students with a high-quality, research informed educational experience leading to an understanding of healthcare practice and the achievement of both academic and professional qualifications. You will lead developments in response to the professional and interprofessional agendas, and support collaborations with clinical colleagues to develop and prepare appropriate clinical placements including educational audit and clinical liaison. The role will also involve a contribution to the wider Institute of Applied Sciences, including income generation activities, student recruitment and, where appropriate, support other departments within the University.
Learning and Teaching
Take responsibility for programme co-ordination as appropriate. Take sole responsibility for the design of teaching materials and delivery across a range of modules within the School of Nursing and Allied Health; Contribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and material; Contribute to curriculum development in the context of Physiotherapy; Support and liaise with clinical practice partners in supporting student work-related learning Transfer knowledge in the form of practical skills, methods and techniques and engage with the Simulated Based Education development; Identify learning needs of students and develop appropriate learning outcomes; Use time outside of teaching hours to prepare well-constructed, varied teaching sessions, ensuring that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning outcomes; Lead on and collaborate with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures; Oversee the work of students, provide advice on study skills and help them with learning Problems; Undertake the supervision of students projects, fieldwork and placements; Provide timely, constructive, formative and comprehensive feedback to students using all forms of communication/media; Assess the work and progress of students by reference to established criteria and provide constructive feedback to students; Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback; Tackle issues affecting the quality of delivery, referring more serious matters to senior colleagues, as appropriate; Embrace the importance and value of engaging in the task of education and learning together with students at all academic levels to ensure an outstanding learning experience; Work in partnership with students to enable them to become independent learners and researchers.Research, scholarly and income generating activities
Engage in pedagogic and practitioner research and/or scholarly activities. Conduct individual or collaborative scholarly projects. Extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities. Develop and produce learning materials and disseminate the results of scholarly activity. Engage in and develop income generating activity applicable to the context of the department and with full discussion with the Head or Director of Institute/Department. Prepare proposals and applications to external bodies, for funding and accreditation purposes. A good relevant undergraduate degree. Masters level qualification in related subject to Physiotherapy/ Education/Health (or working towards). Practicing Physiotherapist in the UK currently on HCPC register for minimum of 4 years. Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development. Qualified Teacher Status/HE teaching qualification Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education/Academic Professional (or be willing to undertake).
