**Function of the Post**: Lecturers will contribute as a member of the teaching team in a developing capacity, with the assistance of a mentor and/or senior colleague if required, within the area of physiotherapy in the Institute of Applied Sciences. You will work collaboratively with both academic and clinical colleagues to ensure effective teaching and clinical placements to prepare students for work and enhance employability within physiotherapy. Principal Accountabilities: As a Physiotherapy Lecturer (Cardio/Pulmonary) in the School of Nursing and Allied Health, the working year will be divided between teaching, teaching-related administration, assessment and research in such proportions as may be decided by the Head of Area, after appropriate consultation, in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Academic staff. You will contribute to the delivery of Physiotherapy education enhancing the student experience on both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Physiotherapy programmes; providing students with a high-quality, research informed educational experience leading to an understanding of healthcare practice and the achievement of both academic and professional qualifications.

Transfer knowledge in the form of practical skills, methods and techniques. Assist with the development of the design and delivery of modules and assessment methods, working closely with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures, participating in the examination/assessment process. Set, mark and assess work and examinations and provide effective and timely feedback to students. Assist with the supervision of students projects, fieldwork and placements.

Use time outside of teaching hours to prepare well-constructed, varied teaching sessions, ensuring that content, methods of delivery and learning materials will meet the defined learning outcomes. Seek ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback. Provide timely, constructive, formative and comprehensive feedback to students using all forms of communication/media. Embrace the importance and value of engaging in the task of education and learning together with students at all academic levels to ensure an outstanding learning experience.

Work in partnership with students to enable them to become independent learners and researchers Deliver high quality, effective and interactive teaching using a range of methods including face to face, blended and remote delivery if necessary. Research, scholarly and income generating activities: Engage in pedagogic and practitioner research and/or scholarly activities. Conduct individual or collaborative scholarly projects with the support of a mentor/a senior colleague. Develop learning materials in collaboration with colleagues and disseminate the results of scholarly activity.

Contribute to the accreditation of courses and quality control processes within the department. Attend and contribute to team and departmental meetings and/or committees internally or externally. Work with colleagues and students to sustain and strengthen an inclusive, supportive, caring and authentic learning community. Communication, liaison and networking: Communicate complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding.

Communicate material of a specialist or highly technical nature. Liaise with colleagues academic and professional services effectively. Attend open days and assist with other course marketing activities. Focus upon and explore ways to be and think together as educators that are positive and encouraging and empowering.

**Managing people**: Manage own teaching, scholarly and administrative activities with guidance if required. Act as a mentor for students in the capacity of Academic Advisor. Supervise students, understand their learning requirements and develop appropriate learning outcomes. Work collaboratively and effectively with others to support project outcomes.

**Pastoral care**: Develop and use listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills and act as first line support to students, referring them as appropriate to internal and external services providing further help. Appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances. Support students to work through and overcome the various challenges they will face including personal, economic, mental, physical etc. Planning and managing resources: Support the quality of delivery within scope of own level of responsibility, referring more serious matters to others, as appropriate.

Manage projects relating to own area of work, in liaison with senior colleagues. Use teaching resources and facilities as appropriate to ensure student needs and expectations are met.
