Global Procurement Manager
As QuidelOrtho continues to grow, we are seeking to appoint a Global Procurement Manager to join our Global Procurement department in Pencoed on a permanent basis. This role will work a standard work week, with options for hybrid/remote working and 25% travel (domestic and international), depending on supply base and business needs.

QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.
Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.
On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.
Your new role:
As a Global Procurement Manager you will be responsible for providing leadership, direction and focus for a range of suppliers providing finished goods and direct materials within the Consumables and Plastics categories.
The individual will have responsibility for category strategy, contract negotiations, supplier selection and controls, and productivity initiatives supporting multiple business units and manufacturing locations. The Global Procurement Manager will lead and partner with functional areas to support continuous improvement, supplier changes, new product launches and strategic business reviews.
What you’ll be doing:
Responsible for developing the Category Strategy. Manage, develop & drive a strategic portfolio of suppliers for robust raw material and finished goods supply chain including total cost management initiatives. Identify risks to supply and devise mitigation strategies. Keep up with supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practice sourcing. Lead negotiations on complex contracts across multiple sites/business units for non-standard purchases. Manage all aspects on contract compliance from delivery adherence, capacity alignment, risk management, cost optimization to support manufacturing, distribution, quality, and performance management through to change management. Lead supplier relationship management for supply partners. Creating processes to collect data for performance metrics and champion the collection efforts. Report performance data for assigned categories or key business processes in a timely manner. Lead supplier business reviews, supplier capacity management, PPV, work to resolve escalated supply issues. Develop an expertise in the business needs and capabilities for major spend categories or key business processes. Foster relationships with Supply Chain, R&D, Finance, Business Fields management and product development teams to drive supplier strategies that achieve optimal value, pricing, and service performance. Champion annual productivity improvements by identifying and leading internal & supplier-based teams pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the Global Procurement strategy (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.). Facilitate supplier change notices or material obsolescence with business partner team. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.What you’ll need to succeed:
Min 8 to 10 years relevant Technical / Procurement Management experience in medical device, cGMP, or other regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. pharmaceuticals, chemicals). Bachelor’s degree in Business discipline, Operations Management, Engineering or relevant technical discipline. Professionally recognised qualification in related field or Master’s degree an advantage. Experienced in developing and sustaining products in compliance with ISO standards and in an FDA regulated environment. MCIPS Certification or equivalent (e.g. CPM/APICS) desirable. Proven track record of working in a high-performance supply organization and ensuring delivery of high-quality products on-time and on budget. Previous experience in managing OEM, and 3rd party distributed products an advantage. Experienced in identifying, leading & delivering projects to deliver cost down, inventory, reduction, and improved quality. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Power BI. Ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team to support team (on- and off-site) working and collaboration.What we’re offering:
