**Strategic Sourcing Specialist - Biologics & Chemicals**

Due to Ortho’s continued growth, we are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our team, to be based in Pencoed.

**About Ortho, Pencoed**:
Ortho Clinical Diagnostics has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 500 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.

Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.

**Your new role**:
As the Strategic Sourcing Specialist you will be responsible for a network of suppliers providing Biological & Chemical materials across the Ortho plants; having responsibility for Cost/Quality/Delivery/Service for these materials. You will lead and partner with functional areas to drive and deliver cost savings projects, new product launches and other strategic business initiatives.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Support the development of the sourcing strategy for a portfolio of suppliers; drive a robust material supply with cost transparency; risks identified, and mitigation strategies developed and progressed.
- Deployment of Supplier Relationship Management tools in order to develop mutually beneficial relationships with Stakeholders & Suppliers. Establish close working relationships with other functions (e.g. engineering, operations, marketing, quality) to ensure full understanding and support of strategic sourcing perspective.
- Responsible for Supplier selection and negotiating for high value, critical materials including the support of due diligence activities.
- Draft and negotiate non-standard contracts across one or more sites, focusing on supplier quality, total cost and performance while minimizing risk exposure.
- Partner with supply chain and finance teams such that suppliers meet the required standards for financial health, quality management, IP protection, and risk management profiles.
- Implement and execute strategic sourcing and relationship management strategies for materials. Identify and progress annual productivity improvements through leading internal & supplier teams pursuing cost reduction opportunities in alignment with the sourcing strategy & plant needs (e.g. lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, improving supplier operations, etc.)
- Ensuring adherence to supplier management/governance standards including assessment, classification, mitigation and adding supplier to the Approved Supplier List.

**What you will need to succeed**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Science or similar technical discipline required.
- MCIPS is preferred but not essential.
- Experienced in delivering projects to achieve cost down, inventory reduction and improved quality through innovation.
- Generally, a minimum of 4 years of progressive procurement experience
- Proven track record of managing employees, building high-performance supply organization and ensuring delivery of high-quality products on-time and on budget
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Up to 20% Travel (depending on business needs)
