Trauma & Orthopaedic is a busy department comprising of surgical pre-assessment, clinics and wards. Our aim is to put patients first in an area of the highest quality of care. Alongside the nursing and medical teams, the administrative team ensures the department runs smoothly, effectively and acts as a reliable point of contact along a patient's pathway. As part of this large and friendly team you'll be expected to maintain a high level of the patient-focused care we aim to deliver for our patients.

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration qualification within the duration of the placement.

Main duties of the job

As post holder you will act as a point of contact for all communications between the consultants, patients, relatives, all hospital staff, general practitioners and their staff, including outside agencies, maintaining a close working relationship between consultants and patients as appropriate.

You will assist in the management of the office administration of the consultant and designated clinical team.

You will also provide an effective administrative secretarial service, ensuring continuity of service during the Consultant and Senior Medical Secretary's absence.
