Lichfield, United Kingdom University of Northampton Full time

About the Job

Interview Date: week commencing 30 September 2024

This is an essential post within the Research Support Team at the University, providing administrative support for all areas of the University’s research repository and current research information system (CRIS), with particular responsibility for research outputs, datasets, equipment, impact statements and activities.

The post will include working closely with academics and post graduate (PG) students to create and maintain up to date researcher profiles, including details of publications and scholarly activities. Providing teaching and training to staff and PG students on using the CRIS platform, focusing on research outputs and activities.

This is an excellent post for someone who wants to expand their existing knowledge of open research and be part of a small dedicated team that supports researchers in all aspects of research support.

This post offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.

About You

Candidates should ideally have previous experience of working in a research support environment in a Higher Education Institute, with well developed skills in Microsoft Office and excellent administrative and organisational skills.

Candidates should have a good understanding of the open research landscape and be able to communicate the benefits of open research to a broad range of people.

Candidates should be able to work in a role where attention to detail is key, including checking publisher policies and the meta-data for research outputs.

Candidates should have excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences whilst ensuring instructions are relayed clearly and effectively to researchers.

Candidates should be able to work within a team, but also be able to take ownership of tasks, managing their own time and taking initiative as appropriate.

About Us

Come to the University of Northampton and you will see that we do things a bit differently.

We are one of the youngest universities in the UK but we are already leading the way in adding value to society, which we call social impact. We have won multiple awards for our work in this area, among others, but what matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. That’s why we were the first university in the UK to be named as a Changemaker Campus in 2012.

We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that students actually learn rather than the way they are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.

Our commitment to transforming lives and inspiring change is at the heart of all that we do.

Right to Work

All candidates will be asked to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK at interview. Due to the requirements laid out by UK Visas and Immigration regarding Right to Work in the UK, the University can only accept applications from individuals who currently have a status allowing them to work in the UK for this position. Due to this criteria, we regret that we are unable to offer sponsorship at this time.

Equality

We welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
