Job overview

Cancer Performance are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team as Assistant Cancer Performance Data Analyst. You will play an integral role in driving improvements in patient care and cancer pathway management. 

You will play a crucial role in providing support to the Management Team within Cancer Performance. The Assistant Cancer Performance Data Analyst will manage and report the Performance Monitoring of the Trust's compliance with National Cancer Waiting Times Targets and the completeness of data against the projected trajectories and for national reporting purposes (Cancer Waiting Times, COSD and tumour- specific P audits etc.) The post holder will need to oversee the collection of both demographic and clinical data for all patients with urgent cancer referrals from GPs and/or being treated for Cancer at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust – covering both the Cancer Units in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and the Kent Oncology Centre.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who can work collaboratively with other services and with multi-disciplinary teams, to ensure that the strategic service meets and achieves national performance indicators e.g. 28 day diagnosis, 62-day first treatment, and all quality, activity and financial targets and indicators.

The role is challenging so you must be hard-working, adaptable and have the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will need good listening and communication skills and be able to deal with people both internally and externally in a sensitive and professional manner. The ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Trust policies is paramount.

Essential criteria

A degree or diploma or equivalent experience in Data Processing or related subjects/ project work.

Desirable criteria

A masters degree or relevant experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Experience of data collection and cancer pathways, and analysis in multi user environments. Experience with database development and administration Familiar with medical terminology Knowledge of employment procedures and practices Able to co-ordinate the work of multidisciplinary groups with regards to data collection and information requirements Able to prioritise and manage own work Able to exercise own initiative when dealing with issues within own specialist area of competence. Able to act as a Trust expert in area of data requirements and monitoring targets In-depth understanding of national standards and Cancer Waiting Times targets
