Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive,motivated and passionate individual to join the Head and Neck Clinical ServiceUnit working as an Assistant Patient Services Coordinator (APSC). Theindividual will be based in our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) outpatientsdepartment at the Leeds General Infirmary.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to further theircareer development and to gain experience in a large and diverse departmentwith both Inpatient and Outpatient care.

This post is fixed term to cover maternity leave and is for amaximum of 21 hours. Part time hours (under 21 hours) would also be considered.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to support the ENT inpatient and outpatientservices through waiting list management, developing staff and providing asupport role to the management team to proactively deliver performance targetsand service improvement. This post is pivotal in providing key operationalsupport to ensure the delivery of quality, patient focused service, with a keyfocus on validation and RTT management.

The Assistant PSC willable to communicate sensitively and effectively with a wide range of peopleincluding patients, clinical staff and administrative colleagues. The AssistantPSC will support the Patient Services Co-ordinators and Business Managers toprovide a high-quality service that align with Trust standards.

The post holder isexpected to be an effective team player, with the ability to work flexibly in adiverse and demanding environment to meet the evolving needs of the business. Therole would therefore suit someone with experience in an administrative role whois looking for a new challenge. For the right person this role offers anopportunity to develop your skillset and improve patient care in a high profileand supporting trust.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellentinterpersonal and communication skills with the ability to forge and maintainrelationships. The ability to manage and prioritise a large and variedworkload, quickly find solutions and to focus on critical issues when decisionmaking are all essential.

The Assistant PSC will manage their defined areas within the specialityand will be responsible for prioritising work, developing and, reviewingworking practices to ensure the effective running of the department andeffective communication structures are implemented. They will ensure thatprocesses/procedures comply with legislation requirements covering Health &Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality.

Ideally the candidate should possess excellent time management skills. Familiarity with Patient Centre, Epro, andPPM+ is essential and experience in waiting list validation and RTT performancetargets would be advantageous, but not essential.

Essential core knowledge and understanding to include:

The post-holder to possessa good standard of written and spoken English.

Basic computer literacyand willingness to further computer skills.

A thorough understandingof all policies and procedures governing the Trusts approach and delivery toPatient Administration.

An understanding of teammanagement and the policy and procedures governing the Trusts approach tomanaging staff.
