We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Head of Year to join our pastoral team and support the holistic development of our students. We are working with a vibrant and inclusive secondary school located in Rochdale, committed to fostering academic excellence and personal growth. Their mission is to create a supportive and dynamic environment where every student can thrive.

As an Assistant Head of Year, you will work closely with the Head of Year to oversee the pastoral care and academic progress of students within a specific year group. You will play a key role in promoting high standards of behavior, attendance, and achievement, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Year in monitoring and supporting the academic progress, behavior, and attendance of students.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior and high levels of attendance.
  • Provide pastoral support to students, addressing individual needs and concerns.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a cohesive support network.
  • Assist in the organisation and delivery of year group assemblies, events, and activities.
  • Monitor and analyse data related to student progress, behavior, and attendance, and use this information to inform interventions.
  • Support students in setting and achieving personal and academic goals.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to provide additional support where necessary.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to student welfare.
  • Ability to analyse data and use it to inform practice.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
  • A relevant degree or qualification in education, counseling, or a related field is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
