The Role

In the capacity of Assistant Head of Year, you will be instrumental in aiding the Head of Year to improve both the academic performance and pastoral care of students within a designated year group. This role demands a proactive and compassionate individual committed to nurturing a positive educational atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of Year in tracking student achievements, behavior, and overall welfare, ensuring that every student receives the necessary assistance to flourish.
  • Engage closely with students, offering guidance and support to help them navigate learning obstacles and personal challenges.
  • Contribute to the delivery of inspiring year group assemblies, PSHE sessions, and initiatives that foster a robust, inclusive school culture.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student progress, behavioral incidents, and pastoral interventions, ensuring effective communication with parents and guardians.
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to facilitate differentiated learning and address any issues impacting student performance.
  • Actively participate in the planning and oversight of year group activities, events, and excursions.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to remain informed about best practices in pastoral care.

  • Prior experience in a pastoral or educational role (highly desirable but not mandatory).

All quoted pay rates will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of a permanent role becoming available later.
