About this job

To provide a welcoming, warm and safe environment across the Family Hubs for young children and their families.

To plan, organise and deliver high quality, evidence-based early intervention, and prevention services for children aged birth to 5 years in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to improve outcomes for children and families and reduce the need for more targeted or specialist interventions

To work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals to promote wellbeing and support children develop to their full potential.

Special requirements for this post

Level 3 qualification in child development or equivalent qualification or job experience

We are looking for people who are committed within the first three months to become accredited in the ‘Peeple’ and ‘Solihull’ programmes to ensure services are evidence based

Understanding the impact of poverty, cultural difference and isolation on how families, with children 0-5 years old, engage with services

Working in conjunction with colleagues from stakeholders and services to promote the project and meet the needs of the children involved

Ability to promote and engage families and professionals in the groups

Experience of delivering early intervention and prevention projects or community programmes with vulnerable communities, families or children

Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage principles and how to implement this to support child development and learning

Demonstrate understanding and commitment to engage with families equally through cultural competency

Ability to design creative sessions for parents and carers and their children to keep their engagement while teaching them skills

Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook. Commitment to train in other IT systems, such as LiquidLogic.

Clear knowledge and working within the parameters of GDPR and ability to work with colleagues / partners to ensure appropriate sharing of data, collection of monitoring information, and interpretation of data.

Ability to travel across Barking and Dagenham to deliver services and presentations

Ability to work in a face to face role with minimal homeworking

Inspire - I am passionate about my continual learning and development to be able to identify and reduce isolation and improve outcomes for families 

Engage - I am driven to engage with families across the borough to offer services for children, through engaging with multiple stakeholders including families from across the borough

A self starter who is good at engaging families in early intervention services.

Someone who can work well in a team with professionals across the system.

About us

Start for Life and Family Hub is a DfE funded programme. Barking and Dagenham is one of 75 local authority areas to receive a share of the £301.75 million. Family Hubs and Start for Life programme funding package for the period 2022–2025. Investment in the Start for Life period from conception to age two, to support parents to care for and interact with their children. The funding is based on 'The Best Start for Life: A Vision for the 1,001 Critical Days’.

Aims of the funding is to provider: 1.Seamless support for families 2.A welcoming hub for families 3.The information families need when they need it 4.An empowered Start for Life workforce 5.Continually improving the Start for Life offer 6.Leadership for change 4 key workstreams – infant feeding, perinatal mental health and parent-infant relationships, Home Learning Environment, Parenting Support.
