Intervention Worker
Candidates should ensure they are available to attend an assessment centre on Thursday 21st November 2024, 10am-3pm at 119-120 Lower Marsh, Waterloo, SE1 7AE.
We are Hestia. We make a difference.
At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. We provide a range of services, including Domestic Abuse support, Modern Slavery assistance, Mental Health & Complex Needs care, and Criminal Justice. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.
The service you will work in….
Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk people on probation, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. This is an opportunity to be part of a dedicated, enthusiastic staff team, playing a key role in pro-social modelling, rehabilitation and community reintegration for those ready to make positive choices. Working closely with Probation Officers and other community services, we provide a stepping stone from prison into the community.
The residents we work with come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, but all have been released from prison on licence, effectively serving the final part of their sentence in the community. Referrals are received through a central referral system operated by London division of the Probation Service. Residents are seen on a daily basis and staff become involved in the resident's life to a very high degree: giving advice and offering support whilst exercising control and supervision, all the time liaising with the rest of the probation service and a wide range of agencies. This allows staff and residents to work together to continue on a journey of recovery and achieve meaningful, positive change.
A day in this role looks like….
As an Intervention Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Male Approved Premises. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
- Modelling pro-social behaviour and attitudes, helping to create and maintain a positive culture of respect in all work inside and outside of the service with both clients and colleagues.
- Actively engaging with clients and providing opportunities to do so; delivering activities to them that aid their resettlement into the community.
- Contributing to delivery of the sentence plan in conjunction with colleagues in probation, the police and other external agencies.
- Following protocols, encouraging compliance and taking enforcement action as necessary, in particular around drug and alcohol testing requirements and curfews.
- Ensuring that colleagues, multi-agency partners and management are informed and updated as necessary.
- Actively monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness and hygiene of the Approved Premises and the well-being of its occupants utilising information sharing, CCTV, direct observation, inspection, personal contact and other methods, as appropriate.
- Ensuring that all related administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously, that information is shared appropriately, and that confidentiality is properly maintained.
- In all aspects of their work staff are expected to adhere to operational requirements detailed in the latest Approved Premises Manual, in print or on EQUIP.
- To work within Hestia's policies and procedures where these don't conflict with requirements of the Ministry of Justice or Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service.
- Actively and consistently demonstrate The Hestia Approach Approved Premises (AP) work with the highest-risk offenders and provide a vital element in public protection arrangements.
Why Hestia?
Joining Hestia means more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger. We offer a supportive, inclusive and resolution driven work environment where your contributions are recognised and valued. As a member of our team, you will have the chance to grow both personally and professionally while making a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
