Jagex are hiring for a dynamic and visionary Senior Ops Engineer to lead our most critical initiatives: Data Centre Migration, Security Maturity Programme, Technical Debt Reduction, and Automation Expansion. What you'll be doing:
- Game Hosting Infrastructure: Operate, monitor, and support Jagex's game hosting infrastructure to ensure seamless gameplay experiences.
- Development Infrastructure: Maintain and enhance our development infrastructure, enabling our teams to build and innovate efficiently.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and maintain cloud-first infrastructure, supporting Jagex’s transition to the cloud.
- Automation: Define Infrastructure as Code, develop self-service systems, and implement autonomously scaling systems to drive automation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to inform new product features, identify reliability improvements, and assist in defect investigation and resolution.
- Operational Processes: Maintain and improve Jagex’s operational processes and documentation, including configuration standards, logging, monitoring, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Mentorship: Mentor junior team members to enhance their technical skills and promote professional growth.
- Agile Practices: Promote Agile principles within the team through example and mentoring.
- Incident Response: Respond to incidents in a data-driven manner to ensure quick and effective resolution.
What you'll need:
- Proactive Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle issues head-on and work calmly under pressure.
- DevOps Expertise: Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), and Infrastructure Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Scripting Skills: Strong scripting abilities, particularly with Python.
- Linux Proficiency: Strong understanding of Linux operating systems.
- Cloud Services Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Networking Understanding: Good grasp of computer networks and protocols.
- Agile Principles: Understanding how to apply Agile principles to operational workloads.
- Converged Infrastructure: Familiarity with converged on-prem infrastructure.
- Information Security: Good understanding of information security concepts and relevant international standards.
