As part of the SHE Team, you will support Cambridge Operation in the area of environmental compliance, waste and sustainability. The role will work to a high level of professional standards in environment and waste management as well as sustainability and will maintain effective communications across departments and functions by advising and assisting collaborators and liaising with enforcement agencies. The role will play a key part in developing the environment/waste aspects for The DISC and associated buildings.

**What you’ll do**
- Hold and maintain environment, waste and or recycling focused appropriate qualification and experience to ensure compliance with relevant licensing and permitting requirements related to waste and environment.
- Help plan and implement Cambridge Operations strategy and policy in environment, waste and sustainability or provide expert technical support to project managers.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and identify potential environmental risks and develop strategies to mitigate and manage them optimally.
- Lead trouble shooting activities to resolve existing problems, make informed judgements and anticipate future needs in their area of work.
- Set priorities, lead, or support in environmental and waste related incident investigations, inspections, and audits to ensure that functions and contractors adhere to our policies.
- Keep own knowledge of best practices and new developments and state of the art in the area up to date.
- Acting as SHE Team Environmental / Waste representative, develop a network with various functions and departments and/or external groups.
- Advise and support Cambridge Ops on environmental considerations and where appropriate engineering aspects for construction and new development projects.
- Collect and validate Cambridge Ops’ data on environment, waste and sustainability and file it internally or externally as vital.

**Essential criteria**
- Experience of working in a similar role in environmental management, and sustainability.

**Desirable criteria**
- Familiarity with sustainable engineering practices and environmental management systems
- Experience of working in a biopharma or R&D / Engineering.
