Design Team

As integral part of the EMEA Development Group, the core objective of the Design team is to drive design innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement to enable the delivery of cost-effective and high-quality infrastructure, delivered safely and always on time. Striving for operational excellence, we specialize in pioneering technical design solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers. 

Position Overview 

As the EMEA Principal Security Program Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the security systems and design of digital infrastructure. Operating at the program level, you will provide technical leadership and support to project engineers, lead on security elements of product development and equipment standardisation, and directly support corporate functions and new site development. You will be the foremost authority in security engineering, providing thought leadership and innovative solutions from emerging industry trends and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering support to site selection, new site development and project initiation

Provide engineering inputs and review of early-stage planning, Campus Master-Planning and Test-Fit Designs to assure validity of business objectives and design assumptions for site acquisition and investment decision making. 

Represent Vantage Data Centers as a technical authority with hyperscale customers, investors, and other corporate stakeholders.

Product & Equipment Development and Standardization

Develop and lead updates to the Security design standards and specifications to incorporate lessons, value engineering, consistency, and system reliability.

Creation and evaluation of high value engineering and innovation ideas, and provide recommendations based on business-related cost-benefit analyses.

Proactively engage with internal and external partners, to identify and exploit lessons to implement good ideas and resolve recurring issues.

Work closely with suppliers and vendors at program level, to technically pre-qualifyand onboard, ready for project-level procurement.

Technical leadership and support to VDC Project Engineers

Regularlymeet with Project and Global Innovation Physical Security Professionals to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching of Regional Security Engineers, supporting and enabling them to deliver excellence for our customers.

Conduct and lead cross-functional initiatives to improve cost, speed to market, and product delivery quality. Engage with corporate user groups and stakeholders.

Support to the Sales & Solutions Engineering team, actively leading on client-facing technical Physical Security Engineering workshops.

Travel to data center sites for building relationships with new development, construction, and Vantage partners as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

8+ years of experience designing Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Alarm, Video Intercom, and Video Surveillance and Management Systems is required.

3+ years of experience managing numerous and complex, fast-paced, large-scale, enterprise-level security system design projects with multiple, overlapping deadlines and stakeholders is required.

Data Center design and/or installation experience is strongly preferred but not required.

Experience in EMEA construction markets is required.

Current Genetec Enterprise Design certification is preferred but not required.

Expertise with installation of Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Alarm, and Video Surveillance and Management Systems is preferred but not required.

In-depth, technical knowledge and experience with design and/or installation of IP networking, structured cabling, and electronic door hardware is preferred but not required.

Working knowledge of networking concepts (IP addresses, MAC addresses, etc.) is preferred but not required.

Experience with two-way radio systems is preferred but not required.

Travel is expected to be less than 15% (typically once a month for 2-3 days) but may be higher at times depending on business needs.
