Job summary

hepost holder will join the Knee team at Chapel Allerton Orthopaedic Centre(CHOC) under the direction of the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons (Mr Anand-soft tissue knee lead; Venkatesh and Mr Wall).

Toprovide advanced clinical and surgical training in knee arthroscopy, ligamentreconstruction, primary total knee and uni-compartmental knee replacement andosteotomies.

Main duties of the job

Toprovide a high quality clinical service to patients requiring knee surgery aspart of the team.

Tocover additional operating lists made vacant by annual and study leave.

Toorganise and run departmental teaching sessions

Tocontribute to the long-term follow up of patients working with the outcomesteam supporting one outpatient clinic weekly for long-term follow up patientsand selected new patients. These new patients will then be listed followingpresentation to the supervising consultant.

Contributeto the audit, research and unit meetings

Tocontribute to the maintenance of the clinical dataset

Submitto peer reviewed journals at least 1 paper each 6 months.

Work closely with the Departmental team, clerical,secretarial and other Trust staff to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated andconsistent operational management service.

A regional service is provided for spine and scoliosissurgery, complex and revision arthroplasty, hand surgery, paediatric surgery,foot and ankle surgery and both acute trauma and post traumatic reconstructivesurgery.

Job responsibilities

Weare interviewing for two jobs, one starts in February 2025 and the secondStarting in August 2025 , however we are interviewing for both the jobs at thesame time. We wish to recruit a Senior Clinical Knee Fellow (post CCT TrustDoctor) to join the surgical team at Chapel Allerton Elective OrthopaedicCentre for a period of one year.

Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to receive advanced clinical and surgicaltraining in the management of knee conditions including arthroscopy, softtissue reconstruction, arthroplasty and salvage procedures. This is NOT acomplex revision knee arthroplasty post. You will be expected to take part inresearch studies as appropriate and help with the departmental audit anddatabase. Undergraduate and post graduate teaching will also be required.

TheKnee Fellow will also take and organise tertiary referrals and take a role inthe delivery of the Knee injury clinic. This role would give experience inmanagement of a range of complex knee conditions including patellofemoralproblems, complex ligament reconstructive work, chondral surgeries and meniscuspathologies. There are no routine on-call commitments and therefore this postdoes not attract a banding supplement; however, there may be occasions when youare required to alter your working arrangements to support the service to meetits demands.

ChapelAllerton Orthopaedic Centre (CHOC), is a dedicated centre for the diagnosis,management and treatment of adult patients with upper limb, hip and knee andfoot and ankle complaints.

Thecentre has outpatients, theatre services and diagnostics on site as well asassociated specialist Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. It has beendesigned to provide excellent, comprehensive and rapid recovery care forpatients.

84 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice 5 years experience in orthopaedics from the start of registrar (ST) or equivalent training make the care or your patient your first concern provide a good standard of practice and car
