An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 CNS within the Breast Unit at Lincoln County Hospital. To provide professional specialist leadership and effective management of resources ensuring high standards of nursing care are delivered to all breast patients.

Main duties of the job

Supporting patients from screening through to potential breast cancer diagnosis. Utilising specialist knowledge and skills within the multi-disciplinary management team caring for patients with breast disease, both benign and malignant

Person Specification

Skills

Essential

Knowledge of surgical and oncological treatment options, including new developments High level of interpersonal skills Ability to motivate staff Leadership skills Good time management Competent in basic computer skills Ability to offer psychological support to this client group Good presentation skills

Desirable

Experience of change management

Previous Experience

Essential

Experience in the field of cancer nursing Experience of teaching

Desirable

Experience of working within hospital and community settings Knowledge of clinical effectiveness and audit

Qualifications

Essential

Registered nurse (first level) ENB A11 and/or ENB 237 or equivalent ENB 998 or equivalent Evidence of continued professional development Willingness to undertake relevant courses Breast care and/or oncology qualification

Desirable

BSc (Hons) degree or equivalent Willingness to undertake further study to Masters level Management qualification A counselling course or relevant experience

Ability to provide a high standard of care with a flexible approach Demonstrate awareness of current changes in the NHS Ability to work under own initiative Commitment to multi-disciplinary working Must be able to be mobile between sites or have means of reliable transport
