This post is for qualified Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists.

The post holder, working alongside other Specialist Therapists will have shared responsibility for leading management and clinical practice within the Front of House (FOH) Therapy Team (A and E, Same Day, Emergency Care (SDEC) and acute assessment/short stay wards ) by means of an innovative and collaborative approach to work related issues. 

They will act as a clinical expert utilising well-grounded academic skills to lead in the area, demonstrating advanced specialist skills and knowledge, whilst assuming professional responsibility and accountability in the assessment and treatment of patients within the Front of House and A and E clinical areas.

As an effective manager they will lead clinical developments in proactively moving the FOH Therapy service forward to the benefit of patients and staff within the Trust and at regional network level. Their role will epitomise the promotion and facilitation of good practice to ensure the delivery of high standard quality patient care.

Main duties of the job

 Undertake a leading role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the Therapy Service for the Front of House and A and E areas.

To take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and/or chronic presentations and to determine clinical diagnosis and Occupational Therapy and physiotherapy treatment indicated and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

To represent the Front of House Therapy Service/Occupational Therapy Service/Physiotherapy service and/or individual patients at the multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary service

 Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.

To support, advise and evaluate the implementation of policy and strategy for the Occupational Therapy/physiotherapy Service.

To have a leading role in the development of knowledge, ideas and workplace practice within the service and work area

To train, supervise and performance manage junior staff, this will include the use of formal appraisal documentation.

To act as Line Manager for a group of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy staff
