An exciting position has become available for a dedicated and proactive Clinical Pharmacy Associate to join the specialized pharmacy clinical trials team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be part of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Department and will operate under the guidance of the Lead Pharmacy Technician, with oversight from the Lead Pharmacist.

The pharmacy team plays a crucial role in clinical research, ensuring the safety and efficacy of clinical trial materials and Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) through proper procurement, handling, storage, and usage.

Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks, including the setup, management, and conclusion of clinical trials, drafting and reviewing standard operating procedures, dispensing clinical trial prescriptions, managing inventory of clinical trial stock, monitoring storage conditions, and performing administrative duties. Effective communication with various professionals will be essential, utilizing telephone, email, and in-person interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the provision of clinical trial services to various departments by the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Department. The role will involve supporting the Specialist Lead Pharmacist, Lead Pharmacist, and Highly Specialized Lead Pharmacy Technician in delivering a high-quality pharmaceutical clinical trials service.

Engage in the execution of pharmacy clinical trial services, ensuring compliance with relevant professional, ethical, legal, and locally established policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

Be an integral member of the pharmacy team, significantly contributing to the development and implementation of pharmacy clinical trials and research strategies, as well as operational service improvement plans.

Participate in the training and development of other staff involved in clinical research delivery. Provide professional and managerial guidance to these individuals as needed, and leverage opportunities for their personal development in alignment with operational service needs.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Accreditation in accuracy checking or equivalent

Experience

  • Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy setting as a qualified technician
