Macmillan Lead Clinical Oncology Pharmacist

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our cancer services pharmacy department at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, dynamic, and compassionate pharmacist for the role of Macmillan Lead Clinical Oncology Pharmacist. The individual will work within the Berkshire Cancer Centre as an NMP in outpatient chemotherapy clinics and day treatment units. The post holder will work closely with BCC management and Senior Lead Pharmacist QA & Aseptics and other members of the cancer services team to further develop the clinical oncology service provided at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate the clinical oncology pharmacy services to patients under the care of the Oncology Team in accordance with the objectives set between the Lead Consultant in Oncology, and the wider pharmacy cancer services team. To act as a role model for pharmacy and provide a consistently high pharmaceutical care service to patients with life-threatening illnesses, that is current and innovative. To work in partnership with the accountable pharmacist in Aseptics & lead haematology pharmacist to maintain, develop and promote the pharmacy cancer service provision under the direction of the Senior Lead Pharmacist QA & Aseptics. To practise as a pharmacist independent prescriber in the outpatient oncology chemotherapy clinics within a defined scope of practice.

Master degree in pharmacy Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy

Independent prescribing qualification.

Experience

Essential

Evidence of continuing professional and managerial development. Experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to oncology patients. Experience of working in an aseptic unit. Experience of managing and motivating staff, training and giving feedback. Experience of financial management of drugs

Desirable

Experience of working in an outpatient oncology clinic setting Registration with British Oncology Pharmacy Association or equivalent body Experience of chemotherapy e-prescribing systems.

Aptitudes and personal qualities.

Able to work autonomously and within a within a multidisciplinary team Able to delegate tasks appropriately Able to manage time, staff and resources to deliver targets.

Desirable

Good word processing and IT skills Experience of research and development in Hospital Pharmacy
