The primary purpose of this role will be to oversee the delivery of the Water Quality & Ecology operations including contracted pollution response services.
As the Operations and Response Manager you will be overseeing service delivery for teams potentially working (or on standby) 24/7 in reactive and proactive ways. Management and leadership of the health, safety and wellbeing of staff is vitally important, in addition to ensuring contractual service levels are achieved.
What You'll Need to Bring:
Minimum 5 year’s operational experience, including staff resourcing, equipment and vehicle fleet management, QHSE responsibilities and facilities management Understanding and knowledge of health and safety at work, experience of implementing safe systems of work, with a track record of managing the health and wellbeing of operational staff Knowledge & experience gained within environmental operations is essential Knowledge of environmental risk and potential harm from operations, including technical discipline of environmental incident response Experience of facilities management A full, clean, UK driving licence Educated to degree level in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline and experience of water quality monitoring would be desirable Understanding of water chemistry, water sampling, water quality monitoring equipment and water quality regulation & legislation would be desirable Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as CIWEM would be desirableWhat You'll Be Doing:
Oversee the operational delivery of WQ&E response services Continually review operational practices and planning in relation to our water quality response services, including equipment stock, vehicles and staffing. The postholder is expected to highlight, discuss, present and, upon authorisation, implement changes as required to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations Specifically the postholder is responsible for WQ&E response vehicle fleet, PPE & field equipment stock, ensuring a programme of maintenance and audited record keeping To demonstrate leadership and ensure WQ&E SHEQ responsibilities are met across W&E, including, but not limited to, the following activities: prompt reporting & investigations of incidents & near misses, regular delivery of tool box talks, vehicle and field activity inspections, vehicle maintenance records audits, equipment calibration record audits, application of RAMS and prework safety checks (hazard reporting) Oversee the response contract staff resourcing, including the operation of shift patterns, to ensure adequate resources to maintain staff welfare and well-being whilst meeting contractual SLA’s Ensure response staff receive the appropriate induction and training to fulfil their roles and that a training programme is managed and delivered for all response staff Lead response to serious water pollution incidents ensuring effective mobilisation of resources, co-ordination with A&A Group services and effective advice and monitoring of activities such as chemical and mechanical aeration Responsible for the facility of Wokingham office, including facilitation of fire safety measures & testing, security systems, hygiene services & lighting systems, safe workplace and any other requirements to ensure safe & efficient operation of this facility Responsible for reporting and ensuring compliance with internal KPI’s Form part of the Water Quality & Ecology leadership team responsible for the governance of the business unit Help provide a safe, inclusive work environment for all staff Deliver exceptional customer service maintaining regular contact with existing clients in conjunction with the A&A Account Managers & Project Managers Any other task for which the postholder is capable of undertaking and requested by line or senior management.At Adler and Allan Group, we're not just a company – we're environmental champions committed to protecting our planet while helping businesses thrive.
