Job Title: Operations & Response Director
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Operations & Response Director to oversee the delivery of our Water Quality & Ecology operations, including contracted pollution response services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff, ensuring contractual service levels are achieved, and leading the response to serious water pollution incidents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operational delivery of WQ&E response services, including the management of equipment stock, vehicles, and staffing.
- Continually review operational practices and planning to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- Manage the WQ&E response vehicle fleet, PPE, and field equipment stock, ensuring a programme of maintenance and audited record keeping.
- Lead the response to serious water pollution incidents, ensuring effective mobilisation of resources, co-ordination with A&A Group services, and effective advice and monitoring of activities.
- Responsible for the facility of the Wokingham office, including facilitation of fire safety measures, security systems, hygiene services, and lighting systems.
- Responsible for reporting and ensuring compliance with internal KPIs.
- Form part of the Water Quality & Ecology leadership team responsible for the governance of the business unit.
- Help provide a safe, inclusive work environment for all staff.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining regular contact with existing clients in conjunction with the A&A Account Managers & Project Managers.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years' operational experience, including staff resourcing, equipment and vehicle fleet management, QHSE responsibilities, and facilities management.
- Understanding and knowledge of health and safety at work, experience of implementing safe systems of work, with a track record of managing the health and wellbeing of operational staff.
- Knowledge and experience gained within environmental operations is essential.
- Knowledge of environmental risk and potential harm from operations, including technical discipline of environmental incident response.
- Experience of facilities management.
- A full, clean, UK driving licence.
- Educated to degree level in a Biological or Environmental Sciences discipline and experience of water quality monitoring would be desirable.
- Understanding of water chemistry, water sampling, water quality monitoring equipment, and water quality regulation & legislation would be desirable.
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body such as CIWEM would be desirable.
