Governance Nurse for Gynaecology

Job summary
The post-holder will support the Maternity and Gynaecology Governance Team along with the senior management team to manage and coordinate all aspects of clinical risk and governance. The post holder will support and work with the team to monitor, review and embed strategies and frameworks to underpin the principles of clinical governance in Women's Services.
The post holder will work in collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team to support, facilitate and deliver service improvements within Gynaecology services, providing both professional and clinical advice as will support the governance team with ongoing action plans, thematic reviews and ongoing monitoring of incidents through the datix reporting system.
As a registered practitioner the post holder will be fully accountable for the provision of safe, quality care to women during care within the gynaecological services. Working collaboratively with the Audit and Guideline Midwife, the Governance Co-Coordinator/s for Children's and Families Division, the Governance Midwife and the Clinical Governance and Risk Lead Midwife to ensure safe working and promoting patient safety.
Main duties of the job
Ensure that all Gynaecology clinical incidents are reported and investigated by the appropriate professional in a timely manner
Scoping and agreeing an investigative process against clear criteria to present at the Speciality Incident Review Meeting.
Support the Governance Team Assist in development of action plans and support implementation of the learning identified following investigations and ensure that learning has been effectively embedded within the team.
Ensure timely and accurate feedback to clinical areas, providing assurance that processes are in place to monitor actions for service information from within the service, Trust wide and from external organisations to share learning to minimise risk and engender a positive and proactive governance culture.
This role would also include complaint response collaboration.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
At least 2 years' experience as a Band 5 staff nurse in gynaecology related speciality or in Governance Knowledge of current professional, local and national policy issues in relation to governance and risk management Excellent communication skills Experience of managing and mitigating risks Evidence of complaint and incident investigation
Desirable
Experience of working in a quality/compliance role Evidence of writing strategies, policies, procedures and guidelines Evidence of report writing and the ability to produce high quality comprehensive reports to senior management level Demonstrable experience in managing risk Track record of leading and facilitating change, meeting strict deadlines, working under pressure and dealing with conflicting priorities
Qualifications/Training
Essential
Registered staff nurse with current NMC registration. Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development Compliance with attendance at mandatory study sessions.
Desirable
Nursing degree. Mentorship qualification. Clinical or Risk Management Qualification Professional qualifications in management, quality, project management or governance
