pladis operates in highly driven markets within both the branded and private label sectors. Effective and timely delivery of critical business requirements (CBR), new product development (NPD) are important to redefining the pladis technical edge. Equally significantly, pladis must manufacture its existing portfolio consistently to the highest levels of quality and efficiency in order to achieve the sustained consumer happiness and low cost base that are needed to deliver truly balanced profitable growth.

The geographical expansion of pladis to supply growing markets around the world means that skills, know-how and products must all be improved to optimally develop and maintain competitive advantage. In addition, the transfer of production from one factory/plant to another and the successful execution of new production/packaging facilities are key for supporting the capacity and flexibility requirements of our manufacturing base.

Working with the Lead Manager, the Process Development Manager is a key role which will provide strong focus and support on delivering technical precision through the practical application of process technologies and manufacturing know how. This role will support the technical capabilities of site based Technical team and other functions at the site, to help drive the move towards world class manufacturing standards in pladis.

Please note the role is a -month FTC and will be based at our Jacobs factory in Aintree, support may also be required at Manchester site.

What will this role achieve?

Lead specific process development projects and to support the implementation of new products, manufacturing & technology change and CBR for the factory.

Lead improvement initiatives which deliver sustained developments in process consistency, efficiency and consumer happiness.

Responsible for the technical support function for the site to ensure rapid deployment of resource and expertise to keep manufacturing lines running to the required operational standards, and to quality standards.

What will be your key deliverables?

Support, lead and implement initiatives to deliver the introduction of NPD (design) and Value Improvement, ensuring all projects meet time, cost and quality constraints.

Finds opportunities for continuous process developments and supports work for justifications of capital investment. Implements process innovations to keep the site at the groundbreaking of industry developments.

Implements effective and efficient planning, management and reporting of all factory trials relating to VI, NPD, Procurement.

Applies Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, techniques and principles to drive Technical precision across all site operations, including the continuous improvement of performance and finished product quality. Ensure compliance to the Change Protocol procedures for pladis.

Leads a programme of improvement and standardisation to plant methods, technology and practices for improve and harmonise the standards of site Process Development.

Ensures compliance with Health and Safety laws of substances hazardous to health (COSHH), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) always during trials.

Develops process and product specifications for the site’s product range in line with the plant’s capability and ensures is available and completed for all product changes and launches.

What do you need for this role?

Crucial

HND qualification or similar in Food, Science, Manufacturing or Engineering

Active Technical knowledge of process development in a food/baking manufacturing environment

Confident understanding of ingredients and their functionality

Significant knowledge and experience in a factory/process role, including the robust application of Lean Sigma methodology to Continuous Improvement initiatives

Team working on multi-functional projects

Familiarity and understanding of factory environment

Proficient written and spoken English.

Desirable

University degree /equivalent level qualification in Food, Science, Manufacturing or Engineering

Formal business qualification ( Management Diploma/MBA)

Trained in Six Sigma/Lean Sigma

Exposure in a Technical role in another blue-chip FMCG company.
