Job summary

Main duties of the job

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet patients and visitors to the practice. Book in patients and visitors in line with practice appointments and visitors procedures. Ensure computerised appointment system is kept up-to-date. Book, amend and cancel patient appointments. Take requests for home visits, emergency visits and hospital transport. Set-up of new patients onto the computer system. Answer incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly. Ensure up-to-date maintenance of both computerised and manual filing systems. Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures. Provide clerical assistance to practice as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning. Assist in the completion of medical/insurance reports. Summarising medical records and entering data onto the practice database. Ensure that the waiting areas are tidy and free from obstacles. Secure the building at the end of the working day. Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.
