About the Service

The London Independent Visitors Service is a dynamic project that enables children in care to develop a long-lasting relationship with a trusted adult volunteer.

In this role, you will lead a team of volunteers that will support children having fun, exploring their interests and being a trusted role model hopefully for life. You will be key ensuring we recruit the right volunteers for our children and supporting children and volunteers alike developing safe and enriching relationships. Working alongside a diverse and supportive team, this is an opportunity for you to have a key role in the ongoing development of this flagship service so that we can continue to provide excellent services to children and young people.

How you'll make a difference:

  • By recruiting inspiring volunteers who can act as positive role models to children in care.
  • By overseeing the activities between the volunteers and young people, ensuring they are safe, stimulating and fun.
  • By demonstrating the benefits of the service to social work teams and commissioners and facilitating ongoing referrals.
  • By publicising and promoting volunteering opportunities with individuals, community groups, professionals, and other relevant agencies and to scrutinise applications form potential volunteers.
  • By ensuring young people in care are benefitting from supportive and caring relationships with their volunteers that positively impact their wellbeing and life chances.

What you'll need:

  • A minimum Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent in a related field (e.g. teaching).
  • Experience and /or skills in volunteer recruitment, training, and supervision.
  • Ability to liaise with a wide range of individuals (e.g. social workers, foster carers, young people).
  • Excellent writing skills (e.g. to compile quarterly reports to local authorities).
