We are looking for an organised volunteer coordinator, with confidence, drive, and commitment, with experience of working with volunteers, to join our team in recruiting and developing the services.

Funded by The RNOH Charity this post will offer you the scope to utilise your knowledge of:

- Volunteer recruitment and retention
- Volunteer management
- Governance
- Report writing
- Project management.
- Marketing initiatives

The post holder will have excellent communication skills and the ability to converse with people from all walks of life and status’s across the hospital. Attention to detail and the ability to follow an action through are essential attributes. In addition, the post holder will have a sense of fun and possess a “can-do” attitude with a willingness work outside the role description when needed.

Main

**Responsibilities**:
Volunteer Services

Working closely with the Volunteer Lead the post holder will coordinate, interview and manage the recruitment of new volunteers, ensuring the recruitment process is robust and efficient in line with industry standards and Trust polices.

Ensure new volunteers complete all the relevant checks including, DBS, Occupational Health clearance and references.

Deliver, and develop, the Volunteer Services induction programme in line with volunteering best practice and Trust requirements.

Work with the Volunteer Services team to fully utilise all the functions offered by our Better Impact database to offer a simplified and seamless recruitment and management process.

Work with managers across the Trust to promote and develop volunteering opportunities and to look for opportunities to improve patient, and staff, experience through volunteering roles.

Actively be involved in Trust open days and public events.

Devise a programme of volunteering events throughout the year to reward, encourage and promote volunteers and volunteering.

Support a monthly newsletter for all volunteers; ensuring volunteers are kept informed of hospital and volunteering news and developments. This may develop into a patient newsletter.

To be the first contact for volunteers, and enquires about volunteering, at the Trust. Maintaining and developing working relationships and networks.

To support and develop the Volunteer Services Administrator and support volunteers within the department providing supervision and direction in their roles

Administration

Roll out the use of the Better Impact database, integrating it with all our existing systems; attending training courses and implementing and disseminating learning.

Ensure good administrative practices are followed. Suggest and implement changes to policies and procedures within Volunteer Services and within the Quality directorate as a whole. Ensure existing policies and procedures reflect latest innovation and current best practice.

Produce regular reports on recruitment, retention, and volunteer impact.


Authorised signatory for departmental budget; manage stock levels; verify and authorise volunteer expenses; maintain expenditure records.

Ensure voluntary roles are safe and risk-assessed according to Trust policies and procedures.

Ensure volunteering rotas are maintained and filled alerting the team to issues where necessary and implementing actions to fill vacancies.

Provide guidance and support to external organisations volunteering on site.

Ensure volunteer database (Better Impact) is accurate and up-to-date.

Participate in regular team meetings.
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI)

Support the delivery of patient involvement activities at the Trust.

Champion patient involvement across the Trust, actively engaging with patients and visitors to promote involvement opportunities.

To ensure regular informative communication takes place with involved patients and patient groups.

Contribute to the delivery of patient involvement initiatives that support the Trust’s quality agenda.

Additional Responsibilities

Support new initiatives and projects with other members of the team.

Evening and weekend work may be occasionally required and will be agreed and planned with the post holder to ensure volunteers are settled into their departments and undertake support and supervision.

The post holder will deputise for the Involvement and Volunteer Lead as required.
