We are excited to offer a 24-month secondment for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to work alongside our fantastic Cardiac Rehabilitation team. This role will offer you a wide variety of opportunities to demonstrate and develop your skills, such as facilitating therapeutic groups and supporting individuals to manage anxiety. You will utilise your specialist assessment and intervention skills alongside your MDT colleagues to ensure a holistic care that supports the health and well-being of patients.

You will also be supported to complete the BACPR part 1&2 course, The FCA course, the BACPR heart failure course and REACH HF course which will provide you with invaluable skills that will enrich your secondment experience and give you stable foundations to build upon.

This is a new role and something the team have been passionate about developing for some time so they are very excited for you to join them

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide assessments and interventions to heart failure patients in a variety of ways. This will include holistic assessments and collaborative decision making, supporting the provision of group classes and also working with patients to provide techniques to manage anxiety. Your ability to remain organised will prove invaluable to the smooth running of the service and ensure positive patient experiences.

As this is a new position your duties will involve engaging in training and education opportunities to develop your practice to deliver excellent patient care. It will also be important for you to implement audits and gather outcomes measures that demonstrate the vital work you will be doing.

You will have excellent communication skills to enhance your working relationships and interactions with patients as well as a strong rehabilitation focus.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy. HCPC registration

Desirable criteria

Member of a Professional Body Additional relevant post graduate training/education

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Experience of effective MDT working Specialist knowledge and experience within rehabilitation Knowledge of a broad range of clinical conditions and relevant current evidence-based practice Experience of facilitating individual and group interventions Ongoing commitment to continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

Understanding of the regional and national drivers influencing service provision within cardiac rehab Supervision of therapy assistants and/or students Understanding of clinical audit, research and outcome measures and their use in service development.
