Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team, working 1:1 with a Year 3 pupil who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at our primary school in Wellingborough. This role is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant passionate about helping children with additional needs achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD, using effective strategies to enhance learning and engagement.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where the pupil feels secure, supported, and motivated.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop individualized learning plans.
  • Implement strategies that support the social, emotional, and academic needs of the child.
  • Track and report the pupil’s progress to ensure consistent support and adjustments where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children with ASD in a school setting, ideally within Key Stage 2.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to build a trusting relationship with the child, encouraging their growth and participation.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic classroom environment.
