We are on a journey to deliver digital excellence and will be implementing a leading Derbyshire and South Staffordshire wide EPR system that will transform the quality of care for our patients and colleagues by having instantly accessible information using the latest mobile technology, reducing paper usage and utilising clinical decision support tools. This is a first of type implementation across the ICB and offers the opportunity to embrace truly unique working environments.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Digital Change Lead contributes to the delivery of outstanding patient care by:Providing high quality clinical guidance, supporting the development and delivery of the collaborative EPR strategy of UHDB and CRH. The role will foster clinical engagement and transformation within the programme workstreams and will support patient involvement, system training and education, whilst ensuring clinical safety throughout.

The Clinical Digital Change Lead isan advocate for all clinical staff working within the Organisation, ensuring best practice through the adoption of digital technologies,to enhance patient experience and quality of care.

The Clinical Digital Change Leads are instrumental to the delivery Trust's Digital Strategy and EPR programme. The role is also key in the identification and assessment of risk and the essential governance required to ensure safety.

This position serves as a key resource for implementing and optimising configuration, workflows, and system functionalities to improve usability and efficiency of the Trust's clinical systems, tools, and healthcare solutions, supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

The post holder will plan and deliver role based training and education to optimise the functionality of the EPR and provide ongoing support to clinical staff. They will maintain documentation, promote staff digital engagement, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement digital transformation.

Education, Training and Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse, Allied Health Professional or Midwife with substantial post graduate experience Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and application in practice Recognised mentoring qualification/SSSA

Desirable

Leadership course. Transformation/ Change Process Management Qualification Education/Facilitation Course Project Management and/or ITIL Qualification NHS Digital Academy Alumni or any other National Organisation/Governing body Digital Fellowship/certification

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

Must be an experienced healthcare practitioner with an understanding of clinical workflows & processes Experience in facilitating education and training, competency assessment and/or staff development. Excellent communication skills to aid educating others Proficiency in using and understanding of clinical systems and other clinical digital tools and technologies, within an acute hospital environment. Detailed knowledge of the current national developments with the digital sphere including but not limited to an understanding of the digital work led by NHS England (previously by NHS Digital) eg What Good Looks Like Framework Knowledge of change process methodologies Able to demonstrate an understanding of Health Policy and the Professional Nursing Agenda A demonstrable understanding of how Information Technology can enhance patient safety and awareness of patient safety risks and pitfalls of implementing clinical IT systems. An understanding of NHS national informatics priorities and standards Experience of working/liaising with staff across a wide area of specialties and disciplines as well as patient groups where required.

Desirable

Leadership or Line management experience Experience with incident investigation and response. Experience of deploying a significant IT system in a clinical setting.

Skills and Ability

Essential

Ability to work under pressure when required and to provide high quality output within short time periods Able to deal with difficult issues sensitively and diplomatically. Have a high degree of digital confidence with clinical systems/use of apps/Teams/emails etc. Highly developed communication skills verbal/written including excellent presentation skills. Ability to engage, motivate staff and other stakeholders as well as leading staff and able to gain trust and confidence of others. Excellent persuasion and negotiating skills with the ability to deal effectively with challenging situations and challenging people. Able to analysis and interpret complex information and present to non-experts in an understandable way. Ability to present to large mixed audiences in an engaging manner. Ability to appreciate the needs of others and tailor training and education to those needs. A good self-starter, able to work autonomously. Highly organised but flexible to balance / prioritise service delivery requirements and project delivery milestones. Makes decisions around patient safety risks of systems deployment or with live systems.

Communications and Interpersonal Skills

Essential

Articulate with highly developed verbal and written communication/ presentational skills including the ability to communicate complex materials / concepts to a range of clinical staff, Digital Services staff, senior managers, multi-disciplinary teams, and suppliers. In some cases, this information may be contentious and require a considerable amount of diplomacy, tact, discretion, and patience to deliver effectively Ability to present complex information to large audiences whom in many cases would be non-technical in a persuasive and engaging way. Excellent persuasive and negotiation skills with ability to manage sensitive information or resistance to change in an appropriate manner. Compassionate and supportive approach.
