Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic band 6 OccupationalTherapist with paediatric experience to come and join our team of paediatricOccupational Therapists and Physiotherapists here in Rotherham. This role is a part-time role ( per week). You will be joining a communitybased team working with Children aged 0-19 years with a range of neurological,genetic and developmental conditions. We work in partnership with families, andcarers in a variety of settings, including preschool and schools both specialand mainstream, Patients homes, clinics, and the child development centre. Youwill work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. We are a friendly, supportive team committed to providing high quality care.Your professional development will be supported by experienced band 7Occupational Therapist who you will work closely with. You will be part of anin-service training programme and you will have opportunity to access externaltraining.

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will be to work within our Special Schools team,assessing and treating children aged 5-19.

You will hold your own caseload of children and be expected to manage this autonomously.

You will be expected to delegate effectively to Band 4 assistant practitionersto support the implementation of therapy treatment blocks.

You will assess for and issue postural equipment as clinically indicated thismay include postural seating, toileting/bathing support and manual handlingequipment slings, transfer aids etc...

You will be involved in the use of national outcome measures CPUPS andexpected to take the lead in this outcome measure when it is a patient on yourcaseload being assessed.

Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of relevant disability, NHS and social care legislation including safeguarding Knowledge and understanding of application of Physiotherapy to neurological and neurodevelopmental paediatric related conditions. Able to demonstrate required clinical knowledge of up to date childrens Occupational Therapy interventions and service issues An understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people

Desirable

Working knowledge of Health and Social care roles, responsibilities, priorities and strategic direction. Working knowledge of NHS policies and national agendas.

Qualifications

Essential

Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy by recognised awarding body Royal Society of Occupational Therapy Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
