A little bit about what we are looking for...
This is a challenging role, which requires first class communication and written skills. Customer welfare is key in everything we do, and customers are always at the forefront of our thinking.
You will work as part of the Tenancy Sustainment Team helping to support our customers to sustain their homes through income maximisation, by working closely with residents with health conditions/disabilities who need support to complete applications for Personal Independence Payment, Attendance Allowance, and Disability Living Allowance for children. You will assess medical evidence and decide as to whether a claim can be made.
You will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with external partners including the DWP, Capita and ATOS.
You will need strong IT skills, as accurate record keeping is essential in this role. You will manage your own workload, so strong organisational skills are required.
We embrace the future of work with our hybrid working model, offering you the flexibility to thrive in your role. You'll have the opportunity to blend the best of both worlds, spending approximately 2-3 days per week in the office with the remainder being from the comfort of your own home. However bear in mind during your probation and training, we may request more office presence to ensure you feel fully supported and equipped for success. Your well-being and confidence in your role are paramount to us, and we're committed to providing the flexibility you need to excel. Of course if you'd prefer to be in the office more, then that is completely fine with us too
Your responsibilities...
- Assist residents with accessing all available disability benefits by identifying eligibility and assisting with all aspects of claims including representation at tribunals.
- To attend health assessments with residents.
- To keep accurate and up to date records, and file supporting evidence.
- To identify current residents at risk due to Welfare Reform and to refer them to your colleagues in the Tenancy Sustainment Team for support.
- Achieve target for benefit gains for year
- To make a positive contribution in team meetings and one to one’s and take a proactive approach to identifying service improvements.
We recommend you read the full job description to get a really good understanding of what the role entails, you can find this as a downloadable attachment at the bottom of the advert.
Our ideal candidate...
- A strong knowledge of disability benefits, and/or a medical professional background.
- Experience in a customer facing role.
- Experience of working in a high pressure, customer-facing environment and achieving demanding performance targets.
- Understanding of the safeguarding procedure.
- Experience of IT systems for record keeping and report writing.
Disclosure and Barring Service:
This role of requires the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check. A basic DBS check will show any unspent convictions.
