Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for Psychology Graduates to join one of our client schools in Stockport as SEN Teaching Assistants. The successful candidate will be working full-time, starting in September at the start of the academic year. The salary for this position will be between £385 and £450 per week.

This position will have large amounts of responsibility. The responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant include:

  • Working with small groups of pupils or on a one-to-one basis to target the individual learning needs of the most vulnerable pupils.
  • You will be assisting pupils who have autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other moderate learning difficulties.
  • There will be elements of behaviour management, you should be able to identify and manage behavioural traits that are typical amongst pupils who require additional SEN support.
  • Assisting the pupils who have an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP), being able to discuss their performance in school.

This position is ideal for a recent Psychology Graduate who is currently looking to start a career in education or work alongside children with autism. As you will be working closely with these pupils, it is essential that you are able to build relationships with them so that you are in the best position to assist them in their learning.

For this position, it is essential that you can apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, and that you can provide at least two employment-based references. You must also be aware of safeguarding procedures.

The highlights of this position for a recent Psychology Graduate are that you will be able to gain experience working alongside children with autism, and other learning difficulties as you support them throughout their school experience. For someone looking to start a career in education, it is an ideal opportunity to gain experience in a school environment. Throughout your employment, you will be supported by Teaching Personnel as well as the school that you will be working in. For the right candidate, there will be the opportunity to progress into permanent teaching positions once you have become fully qualified.
