Role Responsibilities:

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored educational programs for students with special educational needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, ensuring their individual learning goals are met.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and confidence.
  • Support students' social and emotional development, helping them to build essential life skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff to implement effective strategies and interventions.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to review meetings.
  • Assist with classroom management and the preparation of learning materials.
  • Contribute to the overall well-being and safety of the students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students facing various challenges.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse needs of students and the school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to undertake further training as required.
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
