About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with additional needs, working within a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Support students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
- Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
- Manage challenging behavior in a calm and professional manner, following the school's policies and procedures.
- Support students during break and lunchtime activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a secondary or alternative provision setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to use your initiative when necessary.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Relevant qualifications in SEN or Education (desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies (desirable).
