About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with additional needs, working within a supportive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
  • Manage challenging behavior in a calm and professional manner, following the school's policies and procedures.
  • Support students during break and lunchtime activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a secondary or alternative provision setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to use your initiative when necessary.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN or Education (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies (desirable).
