About the School
A highly reputable Special Educational Needs (SEN) alternative provision in Thrapston is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN/SEMH Teacher to join their permanent staff from September 2024. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment, catering to students with a variety of needs including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tailored educational programs to students with SEN and SEMH needs. The role involves planning and delivering lessons that are engaging, supportive, and adapted to individual learning requirements. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that each student receives the highest standard of care and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN and SEMH needs.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Employ a range of teaching strategies and techniques to meet diverse learning needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and external professionals.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children and young people with SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs.
- Strong understanding of SEN and SEMH frameworks, strategies, and interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting the development and well-being of students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Desirable
- Additional qualifications or training in SEN and SEMH.
- Experience in an alternative provision setting.
- Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies.
