What will the Health, Safety and Fire Officer role involve?

The Health, Safety & Fire Officer will

  • co-ordinate and promote high standards of Health, Safety and Sustainability throughout the Manston Short-Term Holding Facility, and wider business where required
  • provide our operational team and partner organisations with technical Safety, Health, Fire advice and guidance.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across site to influence processes and procedures.
  • ensure the highest standards of safety and security across MTCs buildings.
  • give appropriate environmental advice to our Manston Senior Management Team, managers and employees.
  • undertake and manage risk assessment process and support people managers through investigations

The successful individual will be required to work at the Manston Short-Term Holding Facility site, Monday to Friday.

What are the requirements of the Health, Safety and Fire Officer role?

It is essential that all applicants hold the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational H&S (or equivalent). We also require the new Health, Safety & Fire Officer to have sound knowledge of H&S Legislation, as well as experience of giving professional occupational health and safety advice in a complex environment.

It would be advantageous to any applicants if they were to hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational H&S or be working towards it (or equivalent), a NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (or equivalent) and/or the Teaching for Life (Level 3) qualification.
