Job Overview

As a Crisis Support Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to deliver a high-quality, recovery-oriented service to individuals experiencing a variety of mental health challenges, including those with autistic characteristics and additional support requirements such as learning disabilities, physical health concerns, and substance use issues. Your role will emphasize fostering independence and promoting social inclusion. With a background in community-based mental health services, you will have the ability to inspire, engage, and motivate individuals effectively.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Crisis Support Specialist, you will be tasked with providing a comprehensive, recovery-focused service to individuals facing diverse mental health challenges. Your duties will include:

  • Engaging one-on-one with clients to understand their unique needs and aspirations.
  • Facilitating activities both within the service and in the wider community.
  • Performing administrative tasks and assisting with signposting to other relevant services.
  • Collaborating with Peer Support Workers and fellow Crisis Support Specialists to ensure the delivery of person-centered care.
  • Supporting individuals in a non-clinical environment aimed at reducing immediate distress and promoting recovery.
  • Providing information, safety planning, and signposting for clients and their families to address holistic needs.
  • Working closely with various stakeholders, including mental health services and emergency responders.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess experience in mental health support and demonstrate the ability to engage and motivate individuals effectively. Key qualifications include:

  • A strong understanding of the complexities associated with mental health, learning disabilities, and substance misuse.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for working within a community-based service.
  • A full driving license and access to transportation are necessary for this role.
  • A qualification in Health and Social Care at level 2 or level 3, with a willingness to pursue further development as required.
