Reporting directly to the Executive Director for People, you'll lead across the full people directorate portfolio and influence initiatives to optimise employee relations, organisational development, and workforce planning. You will be connecting Workforce Planning, Wellbeing, People Services and Organisational Development to work towards one common goal.

Main duties of the job

Are you passionate about optimising employee relations, organisational development, and workforce planning in a dynamic healthcare environment?

Some of the main duties involved in this role include:

Providing strategic leadership and support to the Executive Director for People in shaping workforce strategies for part of the largest employer in Wales. Having full oversight of the full People Directorate Overseeing employee relations matters, including complex cases and negotiations with trade unions. Leading organisational development initiatives to promote a culture of excellence and innovation. Driving workforce planning efforts to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and service needs. Collaborating with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to implement effective HR policies and practices. Managing resources and budgets within the People Directorate to maximise efficiency and effectiveness. Represent the Health Board in national discussions, negotiations, and policy formation related to HR matters.

Job responsibilities

Do you have what it takes to inspire and motivate the people teams to achieve excellence in service delivery?

Although having experience within the NHS is not essential to apply for this role, it would be highly advantageous to have an understanding of healthcare and/or working within a large complex environment. (Our health board has close to 14,000 staff)

We are seeking an individual who possesses a thorough understanding of how government strategies impact at the local level and a comprehensive understanding of the role and purpose of our organisation.

Expertise in change management, workforce and organisational development, and in-depth professional knowledge are essential, as well expertise in employment legislation. FCIPD membership and masters degree in a relevant discipline are desirable.

We would require an individual with specialist knowledge and experience of undertaking complex negotiations and highly effective influencing skills. In addition, the ability to contribute to the strategic thinking and direction of the organisation. Therefore the successful candidate must have considerable experience at a managerial level within HR.

Significant experience of operating at senior management level including preparation/presentation of papers for Board will be required, as well as significant experience and understanding of Organisational Development and Human Resources practices.
