A fabulous and exciting opportunity has arisen due to new funding for Neonatal Services at University Hospital of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
The post will involve working at both trust sites, Royal Derby Hospital on LNU and at Queens Hospital Burton SCBU.
The neonatal units have never had dedicated Occupational Therapy support and it will involve a close working relationship with the team of AHP's and especially physiotherapy.
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and innovative Occupational Therapist to join the team which now includes a part time OT. You will hold a caseload of specialist and complex infants and therefore will need comprehensive knowledge and skills in clinical assessment techniques, advanced handling skills and awareness of the neurodevelopmental care for premature and vulnerable infants and principles of Family Integrated Care.
Alongside the clinical component this role will give the candidate/s the opportunity to be instrumental in the introduction, delivery and evaluation of Occupational Therapy to these units.
You can expect access to relevant training, clinical supervision and peer support running alongside a yearly performance development review.
Part time hours discussions would be considered
Main duties of the job
To be part of a group of Clinical Specialists for the Neonatal Occupational Therapy Speciality within the Trust, coordinating the Trust wide service development and evaluation and promote and ongoing culture of change and improvement within the service. The post holder will be expected to work across the acute sites at Royal Derby Hospital Level II facility and Queens Hospital Burton's SCBU. To provide clinical leadership in the field of neonatal Occupational Therapy across the acute sites of the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, promoting the highest standards of patient care throughout the speciality, in line with local and national standards, policies and procedures. To provide highly specialist advice and education to occupational therapy staff, MDT members, nursing staff and other clinical specialities within the Trust. To support the parent-infant relationship, helping parents understand and respond to behavioural cues and signs of stress, helping infants to regulate their body systems and participate in co-occupations such as sleeping, feeding and early interaction. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team on the neonatal units including Nursing staff, medical team, other Allied Health Professionals and support staff.
