Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our experienced and knowledgeable nursing team.

The role is for 18 hours per week

Main duties of the job

You will be required to assist the practice clinical team in delivering safe, effective and high quality services to the practice population. You will undertake routine patient care under the supervision of the Nursing team, managing your own pre-booked clinics.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

NHS Health Checks

ECG Recording

Phlebotomy

Diabetes Foot Care

Ear Syringing

Chaperoning Duties

Administering Flu and Pneumococcal Vaccinations

B12 injections

BP readings and ABPM

Obtaining, processions and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses

Arranging sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well being

Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual. To include dressings, 4 layer bandaging and suture/clip removal.

We are a friendly, progressive practice with a patient list size of approximately 9400 patients.

Weare a GP training practice and encourage and support personal and teamdevelopment. Our clinical system is SystmOne.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the Practice Nurse Lead and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the practice clinical team in the delivery of safe, high quality primary care services to the practice patient population. You will work within clear parameters after appropriate training and assessment of competence. You will undertake routine patient care, managing your own pre-booked clinics.

Your approach to your work will be caring and compassionate. You will have excellent and adaptable communication skills to deal with the varied nature of patients and clinical situations.

Experience

Essential

Previous experience in an HCA role in health and social care

Desirable

Previous experience of working as an HCA in Primary Care Experience of using SystmnOne clinical system Experience of working with time pressures (appointments)

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE Mathematics and English C or above, or equivalent NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Phlebotomy

Desirable

Completion of Care Certificate
