Glasgow, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

The shift pattern for this position is 24 hr rotational. (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

As part of Unscheduled Care within the whole system of Community Mental Health Services the post holder will work closely with all disciplines/agencies. The post holder will provide a service for individuals with complex mental health, physical and social care needs who present in crisis who may require additional home treatment/care intervention over a 24hr period, also providing a specialist mental health service into the Mental Health Assessment Units, Emergency Departments and inpatients services within the General Hospital setting.

The post holder is expected to provide specialist advice to multi-disciplinary staff including consultant medical staff. The service provides assessment and access to mental health inpatient beds over a 24hr period throughout GG&C. This includes arranging hospital admission for a patient should this be required. Due to the rapid response nature of Unscheduled Care, the post-holder will respond appropriately to patient need and will be responsible for prioritizing their own and junior staff’s workload and utilising resources appropriately to ensure all patient needs are met. They will be accountable to the Nurse Team Leader and will be required to cover for them in their absence. They will be supported by the Nurse Team Leader through line Management Supervision. The service operates over a 24hr period and has a number of bases across NHS GG&C.

Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service can be found within the Candidate Information Packs.
