Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical trials co-ordinator to join our team to work on the Generation Project. The post is for 12 months providing a unique opportunity to be involved with this exciting newborn screening research programme that has the potential to change clinical practice. The post requires an individual who is confident speak to pregnant patients and their partners. Training on the project will be given but the successful candidate will need to be confident consenting patients to the research project. You need to be able to work autonomously and manage a case load of patients and adapt to change quickly. You will also need to be able to support the ward and wider research team with obtaining processing and shipping samples. The role includes close liaison with clinicians, data managers, sponsors, research and development, and outpatient and inpatient staff

Main duties of the job

The role of the Clinical Trials Co-ordinator is to assist in the provision of a clinical trial service within University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) Research Teams. As a Research Worker you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will involve taking patient consent for non-interventional studies, the recruitment of, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data. Where appropriate to carry out or assist with clinical procedures to include, phlebotomy and the collection and management of tissue or blood samples.

To work on the Generation Project (Newborn Screening Programme). Taking a lead role in the co-ordination, delivery and development of this project. You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities, this will include the daily screening, recruitment, registering blood samples, monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
