Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a 30 hour post for a qualified Occupational Therapist to develop their clinical skills under the Occupational Therapy Career Framework working within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, based at Enlli Unit, Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth, covering the County of Ceredigion. You will be expected to deliver holistic, client centred care and effectively contribute clinically to promote independence and maintain functional skills whilst living at home in the community.

Main duties of the job

The post offers an excellent opportunity to work with other OTs in a dynamic multi-disciplinary Team. You will have a specific interest in Older Adult Mental Health and demonstrate an enthusiasm for the role. You will be keen to develop Best Practice in compliance with Dementia Standards and A Healthier Wales.

The post holder will be required to develop positive relationships between all healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies, maintaining good communication across all areas.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and intervention of clients who experience memory problems. You will have a varied caseload to include younger onset dementia sufferers and individuals living in the community with functional mental health issues. You will act as a care coordinator to a delegated caseload with defined Occupational Therapy needs.

There will be opportunity to develop group work skills and deliver ground-breaking, evidenced based interventions such as Recovery Through Activity. Recovery through Activity (RtA) is based on the conceptual framework of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO).

Occupational Therapists within Hywel Dda have access to regular supervision and annual PADRs. Continuing professional development opportunities include attending Clinical Practice meetings, Clinical Case Supervision, Peer Support opportunities, Occupational Therapy specific training and opportunities to engage in Post Graduate Qualifications.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy Current HPC registration Evidence of attendance on relevant short courses to postgraduate diploma level Knowledge of clinical conditions and treatment modalities relevant to clinical area Knowledge of current relevant national guidance and current health and social care policies and application in clinical area Knowledge of application of Health and Safety at work Act Knowledge of mechanisms of Audit and Research methodology Knowledge of the Philosophy and theory underpinning Occupational Therapy Knowledge and understanding of the working arrangements and principles of practice of other professional groups Knowledge of services in the voluntary and community setting Knowledge of ADL equipment use and fitting.
