Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our Multidisciplinary Pain Team at the ROH. We are looking for a dynamic/passionate individual with excellent interpersonal/communication skills to assist in providing Chronic Pain Management in our Outpatient Service.

You will play an important role in providing holistic care to a diverse patient group. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to continually enhance patient experience and provide high quality, evidence-based and compassionate return you'll be part of a dynamic and professional team who will support you. We are committed to education and training and gained accreditation in 2019 by the Royal College of Anaesthetists to teach Pain Trainees.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be involved in assessment of patients with chronic pain in 1:1 consultations and MDT clinics, delivering pain management programmes and self-management workshops, audit and research, training and education,specific treatment and / or signposting. You will be working alongside Pain Consultants and Pain Nurse Specialists.

Job responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list of duties and a regular review will take place with the postholder as part of their ongoing development and performance management. Clinical Responsibilities Provides highly specialist psychological assessment of clients with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources, GAD-7, PHQ-9, psychometric testing, Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client. Responsible for identifying and reporting concerns regarding the safeguarding of children who may be at Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and provides specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence based practice. Negotiates the implementation of such plans with clients and/or their carers and refers to appropriate Implements a range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as Undertakes highly skilled evaluations and makes decisions about treatment Provides highly specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to clients diagnosis, formulation and intervention Facilitates decision-making by planning and mapping processes/interventions with members of the team to determine the most appropriate treatment modality or service for To liaise with other professionals working within NHS, Social Inclusion and Health and the voluntary sector on matters relating to client care that have implications for the service.

Supervisory/Professional Responsibility Will hold responsibility and accountability for their own actions, ensuring appropriate support and supervision is sought when required, in line with the HCPC To keep abreast of current developments in this field through reading, attendance at appropriate training courses, and a range of other CPD activities, and to ensure that a log is kept of this in line with HCPC To contribute, where possible, to the teaching within the Chronic Pain Service.

Multi-Disciplinary Training and Development Provides highly specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other direct care staff in Provides clinical support to other direct care staff in Delivers training to other staff in MDT

Service and Organisational Development Planning and mapping interventions with members of the MDT to determine best treatments for groups of clients.

Qualifications

Essential

Post-grad doctoral level training in applied Psychology as accredited by the BPS HCPC registration as an Applied Psychologist Registered with BPS

Desirable

Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice

Experience

Experience of assessment / treatment of people with physical health difficulties and complex biopsychosocial conditions Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies

Skills
