Job summary

We are looking to recruit to the role of Stroke Medicine Training Programme Director. This post is a Secondment for 3 years with the opportunity for a further 2 year extension. The role is for 1 hour per week which equates to £2500 per annum.

The role of Training Programme Director is to work with and support the Head of School in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate

Main duties of the job

The Training Programme Director is professionally and managerially accountable to the Head of School. The Training Programme Director will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future. The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher. Job responsibilities

To support the Postgraduate Dean, Training Programme Directors will work across the spectrum of health and where relevant, social care, within the context of a team, so that the provision of education reflects changing service models. This will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional and other backgrounds.

Secondments

Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others. Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context. Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

Primary clinical healthcare qualification. Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty, professional association and/or regulatory body relevant to the specialty. Currently working as a consultant in the appropriate specialty area. A continuing quest for personal and professional development.
