An exciting career development opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Fellow to join the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology (CEBD), School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. Led by Professors Kim Thomas and Hywel Williams, CEBD has an international reputation for independent research into the prevention and treatment of skin disease. It is home to the co-ordinating centre for the UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network and is part of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual with a desire to establish a clinical academic career in evidence-based dermatology as part of our multi-disciplinary and supportive team. This short-term role will allow you to plan and conduct preliminary research to support an externally funded personal clinical fellowship application. This should complement and expand existing work at CEBD, and we are particularly interested in hearing from those clinicians with an interest in childhood skin conditions (atopic eczema, acne, psoriasis), women’s health (vulval skin conditions), and skin disease in older adults (non-melanoma cancer, blistering disorders) or diagnostic testing and test accuracy.

In addition to developing your fellowship application, you will also be expected to provide clinical input into other ongoing projects at CEBD and develop external collaborations.

Demonstrable experience of relevant research methodologies is essential along with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude to working collaboratively. You should have the capacity to work independently, have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and we’re particularly interested in hearing from applicants with clinical experience in dermatology.

Hours of work are full-time (38.5 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 23.1 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part-time and the number of preferred hours. The length of the contract will depend on whether you choose to undertake the role in a full-time or part-time capacity (maximum 12 months at full time and 20 months at 0.6FTE). To attract the best candidates, the start date for this post is open to negotiation but the successful candidate will need to be in post no later than 1st February 2025. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Kim Thomas email . Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

It is a condition of this post that satisfactory enhanced disclosure is obtained from the 'Disclosure and Barring Service'.
