You will have a significant background in training, education, learning, behavioural and cultural change, and you will have an intimate knowledge of JSP 822 and the DSAT Quality Standards, including the stages, activities and outputs required. As a Training & Learning Development Consultant, you will be expected to continue to build your analytical and problem-solving skills, and your knowledge and expertise related to training consultancy. You should demonstrate a desire to take on additional challenges and be prepared to be visionary and propose new thinking and ideas.

You should feel comfortable interacting with people from a wide range of backgrounds, including senior Military personnel and public servants, on a one-to-one basis or as part of a team.


Due to the nature of our business we take security very seriously and require all employees to hold the necessary security clearances. Ideally, you will already hold either SC or DV Security clearance or are willing to undergo security clearances as required.


Responsibilities

The role involves working with customers across a variety of sectors conducting training / learning consultancy activities. This includes compliance with appropriate quality standards including, where relevant, the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) and the Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate (ADDIE) model. The job may require working alone, working at a customer location or working as a team member.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Analyse customer needs and provide effective and efficient solutions for the design, development and assurance of learning interventions and activities.
  • Produce training-related outputs and reports, including Training Needs Analyses, in accordance with the DSAT quality standard and company quality assurance policies and processes.
  • Design and develop training programmes and content including directing and / or supporting the exploitation of Technology Enhanced Learning.
  • Support bid activity including developing associated technical requirements and methodology.
  • Research, collate and analyse information from multiple sources.
  • Plan, create, schedule and manage project performance, cost and time.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute customer meetings, focus groups and interviews.
  • Collaborate effectively with industry, stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts and colleagues in support of projects and potential opportunities.
  • Conduct training and education research, including into methods and media.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Training & Learning Development Business Unit long-term objectives.
  • Assist the Training and Learning Development Project Manager in accordance with company policies and processes.
  • Comply with company working practices and procedures and contribute to their further development.
  • Willing to travel within the UK and abroad.
  • Willing to work at clients’ locations when required, potentially for protracted periods.
  • Carry out additional duties and activities as required.


Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A background in training, education, learning, behavioural and cultural change.
  • An intimate knowledge of JSP 822 and the DSAT Quality Standards, including the stages, activities and outputs required.
  • Experience in the production and/or assurance of Training Needs Analysis reports and products in accordance with the DSAT Quality Standard.
  • Experience in designing training in accordance with the DSAT Quality Standard.
  • Experience in developing training materials including the exploitation of Technology Enhanced Learning.
  • Knowledge of Methods and Media selection and products.
  • A team player with respect for colleagues and customers, and with a drive to establish, maintain and develop working relationships based on confidence, trust and respect.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others, including technical specialists and Subject Matter Experts, and to build positive relationships with individuals and between teams.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and people influencing skills.
  • A clear and confident communicator, verbally and in writing, and a practitioner in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to present clear, logical and detailed analysis to clients in a confident manner.
  • A valid, full UK driving licence.


Desirable:

  • Experience of senior client engagement.
  • Experience of working as a training consultant outside the Defence sector.
  • A track record of customer facing business achievement.
  • Experience in delivering within a growing commercial business and delivering ambitious targets.
  • A post-graduate qualification related to Training and Education is desirable but not essential.
