Position Overview:

As a Senior Psychiatric Consultant, you will embody leadership within a dedicated team, consistently aiming for excellence. Role Responsibilities:

In this capacity, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and Social Work, to deliver comprehensive care and treatment for a select group of service users residing in individual apartments.

Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Overseeing complex case management and developing tailored care plans to meet the unique needs of each service user.
  • Providing guidance on evidence-based treatment methodologies and their effectiveness.
  • Advising on psychiatric and medical matters within the unit as part of the Medical Directorate.
  • Administering the Mental Health Act, Clinical Policy, and Clinical Standards.
  • Engaging in collaborative efforts with care coordinators, families, and external agencies.
  • Contributing to the development and review of Directorate policies and procedures to comply with statutory requirements.
  • Ensuring all administrative duties related to patient care are fulfilled, including timely discharge summaries.
  • Maintaining professional registration with the General Medical Council and adhering to established codes of conduct.
  • Upholding Section 12(2) and approved clinician status.

On-Call Responsibilities:

The hospital operates a two-tier on-call system, with the post holder expected to participate in the second tier as the Responsible Clinician, providing coverage for colleagues during their absences.

Candidate Requirements:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • MBBS or an equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • The ability to independently manage the clinical care of patients.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved clinician status.
  • Experience in General Adult settings and a background in multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Experience in acute inpatient or community settings, with a focus on risk assessment and management.
